Who is Alice Camille?

Alice Camille is a nationally known writer, religious educator, and retreat leader. And as of Spring 2025, she is retired!
Alice received her Master of Divinity degree from the Franciscan School of Theology in Berkeley, where she also served as adjunct faculty in ministry formation, preaching and proclamation. Alice worked in parishes and campus ministry, supervised a shelter program for homeless women, and was active in ecumenical settings.
For thirty years, Alice wrote "Exploring the Sunday Readings," a Scripture commentary series (Twenty-Third Publications). She was the columnist of the monthly "Testaments" feature for US CATHOLIC magazine (Claretian Publications) from 1998 to 2025. Alice was a regular contributing essayist to "Living With Christ" (Bayard, Inc.) from 2011 to 2025. She collaborated on the homily series, "Prepare the Word" from 2008 to 2023 and contributed weekly reflections to "Take Five For Faith" (both through TrueQuest Communications.) She has an online Q-and-A column at VISION Vocation Network. She still contributes occasional reflections to "Give Us This Day" (Liturgical Press) and will continue to compose some seasonal booklets for both Bayard and Liturgical Press.
Her articles have appeared in CareNotes, Catholic Digest, Catholic Update, CHURCH, Deacon Digest, Every Day Catholic, Finding God, GIA Quarterly, God's Word Today, In Good Faith/De Buena Fe, The Liguorian, Religion Teacher's Journal/Creative Catechist, St. Anthony Messenger, This Sunday's Scripture, Today's Liturgy and Today's Parish. She recorded audio lenten reflections with Mood Paint and created numerous virtual retreats including evocative visual support with frequent co-author Rev. Paul Boudreau. Alice worked with teams at Brown-ROA, Harcourt, Hi-Time/Pflaum, and RCL Benziger developing catechetical materials for use in parochial schools.
Her writing has earned numerous awards from the Catholic Press Association (now Association of Catholic Publishers), the Associated Church Press, and the interfaith Religion Communicators Council. Alice currently lives in the Southwest. And did we mention she's retired?
